Kendall County Board Chairman Scott Gryder’s Statement on Joe Biden’s Gas Tax Holiday Gimmick
OSWEGO, Ill. (June 25, 2022) Kendall County Chairman Scott Gryder is issuing the following statement on Joe Biden’s proposal to suspend the 18.4 cents per gallon federal gas tax and the 24.4 cents per gallon federal tax on diesel for three months, saving the average driver an estimated $33.
“I am all for cutting taxes but let’s be honest this is not real tax relief. It is a temporary Band-Aid meant to give appearance of doing something while in actuality it does nothing. It is a gimmick.
Providing families with what amounts to half of a tank of gas in three months is laughable and shows the contempt Joe Biden along with his allies like Lauren Underwood in Congress have for working families.
The truth is we are here because of deliberate policies pushed by Lauren Underwood and Joe Biden that hurt working-class families. Joe Biden – through shutting down the Keystone XL pipeline, ending drilling on federal land, and refusing to expedite drilling permits – has created this crisis.
The solution is to roll these terrible policies back and gas prices will come down as they did during the previous administration. We have the blueprint to lower prices, but ‘Green New Deal’ radicals like Lauren Underwood and Joe Biden refuse to do what is right for American families. Instead, they offer empty, symbolic gestures that won’t do a thing to help struggling families.”
