IL-14 GRYDER VISITS SUSTAINABLE ENERGY PLANT
Recently, Chairman Scott R. Gryder, nominee for the 14th congressional district, toured Marquis Energy, LLC.
Located in Hennepin, Illinois, Marquis Energy is a leading source for renewable energy through ethanol, distiller's grain, corn oil, and other energy products. They produce 395 million gallons a year of ethanol on site. On average 500 trucks a day of local grain go through the facility. 45% of corn is imported from within a 65 mile radius. The grounds cover a 3300 acre industrial site where they have multiple natural gas lines, access to the electrical transmission grid, year round river barge loading, interstate highway and Class 1 railroad. Uniquely positioned on the Illinois River, the river lock and dam system is vital to all they do. A theme at Marquis is that “waste is a resource misplaced”. They are a leader in the animal feed market with their patented Pro Cap formula.
Marquis has announced a $1 Billion investment which includes a carbon capture project in the Hennepin complex which will result in an additional 550 full time jobs over the next 8 years. In addition, the investment will provide thousands of construction jobs with 7 major buildouts in development. This investment will make Marquis a leader in Midwest logistics and distribution.
Gryder added:
“As part of an ‘all-of-the-above’ energy strategy we must remain focused on keeping costs low for consumers, and producing reliable energy domestically. Creating an infrastructure of both fossil fuels and green energy is critical in reducing costs and in our national security. I was thrilled to see the investment Marquis has made in both creating jobs and in securing our domestic energy production future.”
