OSWEGO, Ill. (April 27, 2022) – With inflation registering as the most important problem in the US economy, Gallup reported today that American confidence in the economy remains near historic lows with four in five U.S. adults rating current economic conditions in the country as only fair (38%) or poor (42%), and 76% of Americans expressing concern the economy is getting worse. Upon hearing the news, Kendall County Chairman, Scott Gryder, released the following statement:

“This report comes as no surprise to me. As I meet with people across Illinois 14^th Congressional District, the top concern I hear is of the skyrocketing costs people are experiencing due to the surging price of life’s everyday expenses. Whether it be spikes in food, gas, housing, or vital services such as healthcare, everyone I talk to has a story of the disastrous impact of Joe Biden’s economy on their household budget and daily life.

 People are rightly worried about the future and the direction Joe Biden and his allies in Congress like Lauren Underwood are taking us. They would have you believe the answer is more of the same and expect to ram a massive spending bill down our throats loaded with perks for special interests funded by massive, job killing tax increases.

 It’s time we give residents of this district some comfort. Real relief begins with a change in leadership who will take us in a new direction instead of doubling down on a failed policy of taxing away our prosperity so they can pay for political promises.”

Coming on the heels of the disastrous March 2022 Consumer Price Index, which reported a surge in prices, the Gallup report is one of many such confirmations that the Biden-Underwood economy continues to sputter out. With predictions of a weak US GDP report to be released by the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis tomorrow at 8:30 a.m., we can expect Americans will continue to lose confidence in the “leadership” of Lauren Underwood and her leaders, Joe Biden and Nancy Pelosi.
